Flexiroof Light Terms and Conditions
FLEXIROOF LIGHT T&C - DESIGN
I accept that Flexiroof Light has a sheet with the following character
1. Colour: Medium grey sheet which blocks:
~100% of UV radiation
~66% of visible light
~33% of heat
2. Material: Polycarbonate is a plastic, albeit one very strong for impact, but being a plastic it can and will get scratched with cleaning for example. It is also possible that environmental factors such as pollen may be hard to clean off.
3. Thickness: Flexiroof Light uses 2mm sheet and there could be some movement and or noise in windy conditions.
I accept that Flexiroof Light only has a notional "mini-gutter"
Flexiroof Light is a DIY kit designed to give you a beautiful shelter option at a much lower cost.
One of the ways we have achieved this is by using the main structural beam as a mini-gutter, and the smaller posts as mini-downpipes, both of which are perfectly fine for light rain, or clearing morning dew ... which makes beautiful patterns on out tiny arch sheet:
Of course a little rain on your deck or patio will do no harm. (After all that is what happens without a beautiful Flexiroof shelter overhead)
However, if you do want a full size gutter, and down pipe, or a very large Flexiroof Premium shelter, available only via Flexiroof agent installation, you can self quote for a full installation estimate via this link
FLEXIROOF LIGHT T&C - WARRANTY
I have read and accept this warranty
10 years warranty
Warranty Detail
Flexiroof Light uses quality materials such as premium sheet, stainless steel fasteners, and powder-coated aluminium extrusions using our own tooling.
These are connected together securely via design elements such as “Capped Rafters” and “Tiny Arch Technology”.
Flexiroof will provide replacement parts where they become unsuitable for use, but we do not cover any disassembly, reassembly, travel or installation costs, or any labour.
Exclusions – the product warranty does not apply in the following cases:
- Scratches or abrasions, which are beyond our control
- Normal manufacturing variation (components from any company has small variations in dimensions)
- Mechanical or chemical damage caused by a third party (clean only with soapy water and soft window cleaning brooms, or cloths)
- Fading of powder-coated paintwork over the years (this is similar to what happens to house joinery, metal gutters or even cars over time)
- Normal ‘tea staining’ or other changes that can occur with stainless steel items.
- Damage caused by extreme natural events such as tornados, cyclones, tsunami, landslides and earthquakes.
- Situations where there has been any alteration or modification to the initial design, location or structural integrity of the product or the connections associated with the product.
- Any parts used in a way which exceeds the recommended span for the parts.
I accept that any damage to the kit on collection must follow Mainfreight's rules and procedure for the shipping part warranty to apply.
You need to action all the following in the specified times frames for us to replace damaged or missing parts.
If you do not we can NOT make a claim on Mainfreight so would need to charge you for replacement parts.
On collection - before you leave Mainfreight:
- Inspect all packages for any external signs.
- Take 3 images of all packages received - damaged or not.
- Take additional close up images of any damage you see.
- Ask Mainfreight for a claim form, and advice as to what they require locally.
- Ask them to note there is damage and send you an email and copy it to info@flexiroof.com, acknowledging that Flexiroof will be making a claim.
As soon as you get home:
- Fill in this claim form.
- Send an email to info@flexiroof.com and to your local Mainfreight branch,
ALL of the above MUST be completed within 2 business days for us to action things!
Phew! _ We will take it over from here!
FLEXIROOF LIGHT T&C - OTHER TOPICS
I accept that any permit (building consent) is entirely my responsibility and cost
The largest Flexiroof Light kit - 4.875m x 4.050m is 19.7m² in area, and in New Zealand you do not need a permit for a shelter that is less than 20m².
- If you want more shelter than afforded by 19.7m², you can build two "adjacent" shelters near each other, almost touching, but NOT supporting or connected to each other.
- If you have any doubt as to whether your local council is OK with this you will need to contact them.
- Regarding 1st floor installations: We suggest you ask your council to confirm this is ok
- We can give not advice, or offer design, re adjacent shelters other than to say it is done sometimes! That we do have specialist extrusion we can sell, but the best pathway is to send us an email with a plan and we can dialog with you.
I accept that the following list is a guide only, and I may need other items
Included
- All aluminium extrusions (powder-coated) for the complete roof unit kit.
- All stainless steel fasteners for assembling the roof unit.
- 2mm premium polycarbonate sheets in medium grey.
- If you choose posts the fasteners for the top of the posts – but not the bottom - see our recommendations below.
Not Included
- Fasteners for connection to a concrete patio, timber pergola, timber beams, any adjacent shelter, or an adjacent wall or house:
- Recommended for connecting post castings to timber decks: http://tinyurl.com/mpp47atu
- Recommended for connecting post castings to concrete patios: http://tinyurl.com/38737j24
- You may choose similar fastener products of course – your call and responsibility – but only stainless steel fasteners should be used.
- Downpipes or a large gutter. Flexiroof Light only has a mini-gutter, and the posts act as mini-downpipes.
- Any brackets or connector elements or flashings are not detailed or provided, and we give no designs or advice here.
- Any BSP fittings you may wish to fit to the bottom of the posts, or to block off the BSP holes in the main beam.
Things you will need
- Your time, and this will depend a lot on you!, but we have done everything to make this more straightforward. Having supplied kitsets (generally larger) shelter kits to our agents for a decade we are pretty good at designing for kitset assembly!
- At least one assistant
- A trailer to collect your kit from your nearest Mainfreight depot.
- Basic tools, including at least: an 18V drill, HSS drill bits, level, set square, metric allen key set, rubber mallet (or hammer with timber block), and a step ladder.
- If you wish to drill holes in the mini-gutter you will need a 25mm to 35mm hole saw.
- Note also: If you are modifying parts you will need an aluminium blade in a drop saw, and if you are modifying the sheet you will need a circular saw with a 100 tooth blade.
I accept that the following time frames are what we expect but can not promise
Our shelter kits are made to order so our normal delivery time of your Flexiroof Light kit is:
- 6 weeks for the North Island
- 8 weeks for the South Island
If this is too long for your project, or you have a big family event approaching, please let us know, and we can see what we can do!
I accept that it is my responsibility to collect my kit from Mainfreight promptly, and if not any damage or costs incurred are mine
To keep costs down we have simplified and as a Flexiroof Light kit is aimed at competent DIY installation, we assume you have access to a tow bar and trailer.
When you purchase a kit at checkout just select your nearest Mainfreight depot. Sorted!
Notes on Mainfreight:
- They are a great (and friendly) team, but will charge storage to you if you do not pick the kit up within a couple of days.
- Some branches can deliver, for a cost, but we will leave you to enquire, arrange and pay for this.
I accept that the installation is entirely my cost and time
If you have built a garage, carport, house or outbuilding you should be fine, but it you have only put together a shelf unit you will most likely be challenged, and take longer!
In creating Flexiroof Light as a DIY kit we have focused on three things:
- Reducing costs to you, so we have simplified and removed.
- Making installation really easy, so for example the end-caps are welded on, and all roof frame unit holes are pre-drilled, and deliberately over-sized, and all associated frame fasteners included.
- Creating a durable but beautiful shelter and we are experts here as Flexiroof has been making New Zealand's best outdoor shelter for a decade. Indeed we have 18,000 fans on Facebook - far more than any other company in our space.
A little history: We created and sold a dozen Flexiroof Light prototype shelters 5 years ago, and have had no issues with them since, so recently with the Kiwi economy quieter we decided to refine and market Flexiroof Light as a fully developed DIY offering.
I accept that I will not contact a Flexiroof agent after purchase unless they have agreed to this
Of course it may be that your local agent arranges the purchase of the kit for you, and this is actually a great idea as they know what they are doing!, but please only contact the agent after this if they have invited you to !!!
We can help!
The HQ team at Flexiroof Light are your friends for any installation questions, or indeed any suggestions for improvements!
I accept that custom parts/options are not available to me as a DIY installer
Flexiroof Light is a DIY kit which is much lower cost, because we have (1) simplified the design, and (2) we have limited options which lowers inventory, and makes for a much more efficient business.
The following options are therefore not available:
- Custom length or width.
- Custom colours - so we just have black grey and cream.
- Custom post lengths - so if you want to concrete in you will have to source your own longer 50 x 50 x 3 mm aluminium posts, and get them powder coated.
- Any other sheet materials, colours or thicknesses other than our standard 2mm grey polycarbonate.
- Posts other than 50x 50mm posts.
- Brackets of any sort. Please note that it is true, we do have a number of brackets for Flexiroof Premium, but will never supply these other than to our agents.
- Gutters and downpipes.
- LED lights.
Assistance by us with installation is not available, but feel free to phone us if you have a question: 0800 400 000
I accept that any modification to the kit is entirely my responsibility, cost and risk
Flexiroof Light is of course a DIY kit, so naturally if you change the kit the responsibility lies with you entirely. Our warranty does not apply if you modify the kit.
Perhaps the easiest thing to do is shorten a post and the diagram below shows the holes you should recreate at the top of the shortened post.
FLEXIROOF LIGHT T&C - CLEANING
I accept that I will need to clean the shelter at least once every 6 months
We recommend using 30 Second Roof & Awning Cleaner every 6-18 months (depending on your roof’s location).
- Clean it after rain so the things on the roof have had time to soak in water and soften.
- Test cleaning whatever is on the roof off in an area less seen just to see how it comes off first before doing a larger area.
- Don't get too aggressive with cleaning if everything is not coming off. Put some more product on it and give it some more time to do its job
- To use a microfibre head on your cleaning implement
